Apple announced [HomeView](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/meet-apple-homeview-a-new-way-to-enjoy-entertainment-and-manage-the-home/) on October 13 as a shared screen for calls, media and smart-home controls. The 7-inch display recognizes up to six household members and can show each person's apps and information. Apple also announced a [Home Collection](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/introducing-apple-home-collection-a-new-lineup-of-smart-home-accessories/) of cameras, a lock and thermostats, plus a [new HomePod mini](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/apple-announces-the-next-generation-of-homepod-mini/) and [Apple TV 4K](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/apple-unveils-the-new-apple-tv-4k/). They form a connected lineup, but their sale dates and Siri AI access differ.

## The big change

- **What changed:** Apple has put an AI-enabled, multiuser display at the center of a wider home hardware launch. HomeView can show camera feeds and control compatible accessories, while a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad adds Siri actions that use personal information.
- **Why it matters:** Buying the display does not give every household member every Siri AI function. Device pairing, language, country, software version and, for some camera features, an iCloud+ plan determine what works.
- **What to watch:** HomeView and the new Apple TV are due November 13, with Home Collection accessories starting in December. Apple's October 13 announcements describe intended behavior; BIG CHANGE has not tested the hardware or its privacy protections.

## Four announcements, several dates

| Product | Apple-listed U.S. starting price | Ordering and availability |
| --- | --- | --- |
| HomeView, tabletop or wall-mounted | $299 each | Preorders began October 13 in six countries; Singapore starts October 15. Both versions are due November 13 in those markets, with South African reseller availability also due that day. |
| HomePod mini 2 | $149 | Preorders began October 13 in the U.S. and more than 23 other countries and regions; store availability begins October 30. Siri AI comes in a later software update. |
| Apple TV 4K, fourth generation | $299 | Preorders began October 13 in the U.S. and 29 other countries and regions; store availability begins November 13. |
| Home Collection accessories | $39.95 for a temperature sensor; cameras, thermostats and lock cost more | The lineup starts arriving in December, with some items due in early 2027. Product and country availability varies. |

The dates and U.S. prices come from Apple's separate [HomeView](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/meet-apple-homeview-a-new-way-to-enjoy-entertainment-and-manage-the-home/), [HomePod mini](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/apple-announces-the-next-generation-of-homepod-mini/), [Apple TV](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/apple-unveils-the-new-apple-tv-4k/) and [Home Collection](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/introducing-apple-home-collection-a-new-lineup-of-smart-home-accessories/) releases. The $39.95 item is a sensor, not the price of a camera system: LG cameras start at $199.95 for the indoor model, LG's lock at $349.95, and LG and Schneider thermostats at $199.95. Apple lists cameras in the U.S., Canada and UK; the lock, thermostats and sensors are listed for the U.S. and Canada. It has not assigned a December versus early-2027 date to every accessory in the announcement.

The wall-mounted HomeView needs a separate Schneider Home mount. Apple's wired and USB-C mount options start at $79.95 and $59.95 in the U.S.; a PoE mount is planned for early 2027. The European Union is outside the HomeView sales launch. Apple says that is because Siri AI is not currently available in iOS in the EU; the announcement gives no EU sale date.

## Where Siri AI depends on another device

HomeView runs a Siri AI beta in HomeView software 27.2. Apple says its general conversation, world-knowledge answers and music discovery work even without an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad. Actions across a person's apps and answers drawing on Messages, Calendar or other personal context require a **paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad** on the latest software, with Siri AI enabled in a supported language. Initial setup and multiuser support also require a compatible iPhone or iPad with current software.

On HomeView, Siri AI is available in English in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and the U.S. Apple promises Canadian French support through a later free update without giving a date. Its footnotes also say certain server-based Apple Intelligence features have daily usage limits and that expanded access will carry a fee in the future. Apple has not published the future fee in this release.

The other devices have separate conditions. Siri AI on HomePod mini 2 is **a future update**, and its owner must have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad with Siri AI turned on. Apple says Siri AI on Apple TV 4K is a beta in tvOS 27.2 and can run on second-generation or later Apple TV 4K models. To use Siri AI there, the Home app's home owner must have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running the latest software, with Siri AI turned on and set to a supported language. Personal-context requests also need a paired compatible device. The new Apple TV can form a four-speaker surround setup only with four eligible HomePods in matching front and rear pairs. Those details matter if a reader is considering existing equipment rather than buying every announced product.

## What the display and accessories would do

Apple describes HomeView as a shared touch and voice interface for Home app controls, FaceTime, media and household information. Its Home Camera face can show up to nine live feeds at once. That is a viewing capability, separate from recorded-event history. Apple says a compatible camera and supported iCloud+ subscription are needed for recognition and saved HomeKit Secure Video events. Video summaries and natural-language search add an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad for setup, an eligible iCloud+ plan and a current home hub.

The Home Collection cameras, built with LG, include a doorbell, floodlight, outdoor and indoor models. Schneider and LG supply the climate products, while LG supplies the deadbolt. Apple says pairing starts with an iPhone running the latest software; features beyond basic accessory use can require a compatible home hub. Its [camera requirements](https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2026/10/introducing-apple-home-collection-a-new-lineup-of-smart-home-accessories/) specify an iCloud+ plan for event history: 50GB supports one camera, 200GB up to five, and 2TB an unlimited number. Apple says AI summaries can have a different camera limit depending on plan. Buyers should check the exact accessory, hub, phone and subscription combination before treating the lineup as one inclusive purchase.

Apple says facial recognition personalizes HomeView for up to six people. It also says Messages and Calendar content appears only after recognizing an enrolled face and detecting a paired iPhone or iPad that was recently unlocked; its footnote describes a limited case in which the paired device has left Wi-Fi but remains cellular-connected and in the same location. Apple's Secure Exclaves, encryption and Private Cloud Compute claims describe its design, not independently measured protection. BIG CHANGE has not tested recognition accuracy, access controls, camera handling or the products themselves.
