Cursor has added two-way voice chat for coding agents, so developers can speak and hear replies while work continues. The November 6 feature goes beyond dictation, which converts speech into a message.

## The big change

- A voice agent converses with the developer and passes coding requests to the agent in the chat.
- Cursor lists its Agents Window, IDE, web and iOS app as supported surfaces.
- Spoken progress can help users follow a task, while the resulting code still needs review.

## Speaking while work continues

Its [documentation](https://cursor.com/docs/agent/voice-chat) says the voice agent can inspect a diff or run using read-only lookups, search history and switch project workers. The coding agent can speak short updates, with its written reply read aloud if it has not supplied one.

The distinction between conversation and execution matters. Cursor's [agent overview](https://cursor.com/docs/agent/overview) describes tools for searching and editing files and running commands. A spoken summary helps someone follow the work, but is not evidence that the resulting change is correct. BIG CHANGE has not tested the feature.

Cursor says Grok Voice handles speech while the coding agent retains its selected model. BIG CHANGE's earlier [Grok Voice report](https://bigchange.ai/blog/grok-voice-3-api-benchmark-support-calls) examined a separate support-call benchmark, not this coding workflow.

## Access and privacy

Cursor says users should update the app. Its voice guide requires sign-in and microphone permission; sessions authenticated with an API key cannot initiate calls. It documents a daily limit and an automatic end after roughly ten minutes of user silence when no work is running.

With Privacy Mode on, Cursor says voice chat uses zero data retention. Cloud-agent transcripts otherwise sync across devices during a live call, according to the guide. These are company statements, not an independent privacy audit or a guarantee covering every part of a developer's workflow.

Earlier [Cursor iPhone remote control](https://bigchange.ai/blog/cursor-local-agent-iphone-remote-control-guide) addressed directing a local agent from a phone. It is related context rather than evidence that a voice call changes where every agent runs.
