Synthesia announced on November 3 that its video tools can be connected to ChatGPT, letting users create video from a conversation.

## The big change

- A request and existing material in a chat can become a video without copying the content between applications.
- Syren supports revisions through conversation, while Studio offers a script-based route with detailed editing in Synthesia’s editor.
- The connection is in public beta; workspace permissions, rate limits and credits affect what a user can do.

[Synthesia’s announcement](https://www.synthesia.io/post/synthesia-launches-in-chatgpt) describes turning material already in ChatGPT into video. Its [technical documentation](https://developers.synthesia.io/docs/synthesia-mcp) says an authenticated user can provide an idea or script and use workspace resources to create a draft. The company gives training material as one possible use.

The paths differ after creation. For Studio, the assistant can structure a brief into scenes or preserve supplied narration in a draft. A user can generate the draft from chat, but makes changes to it in the Synthesia editor. Syren instead supports describing revisions in chat and reviewing the updated video there. That distinction matters when deciding where changes will happen.

Synthesia says the connection operates within the signed-in user’s workspace permissions. It remains under development and subject to per-user rate limits. Access to resources depends on the account and workspace; the documentation specifies no numerical limit.

Separately, [OpenAI’s guidance for API connectors](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/tools-connectors-mcp) warns that external servers can receive data supplied to them and recommends care with trusted servers and sensitive actions. That general guidance does not establish which controls apply to this particular ChatGPT connection.

[Synthesia’s Syren credit guide](https://help.synthesia.io/en/articles/17697950-how-do-syren-credits-work) says chat edits consume credits as well as video creation. Per-user launch credits expire November 9, 2026, at 23:59 BST; standard account credits are then used. The company says beta credit amounts may change. This is published billing guidance, not a test of charges through ChatGPT.
