Traversal says it has raised $120 million in Series B funding at a $1 billion valuation to develop its AI system for investigating production software failures. Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Khosla Ventures co-led the round.

## The big change

- Traversal aims to expand from investigation toward systems that detect and correct incidents and check whether fixes worked.
- The company describes a searchable representation of services, dependencies and operational signals for investigating incidents.
- Traversal has reported customer use and accuracy, but its figures are not an independently verified comparison.

## How the system investigates

[Traversal says](https://www.traversal.com/blog/introducing-production-world-model-ai-readable-model-your-entire-production-environment) its production model organizes logs, metrics, traces and code into an updated representation that includes service relationships, behavioral baselines and changes. These inputs give its investigation system a structured view of the environment.

The company says its search engine tests explanations against that representation and rules out those inconsistent with observed behavior. That describes the intended investigation method; it does not establish that every suggested diagnosis identifies the actual cause.

A failure can surface in one service while its cause lies elsewhere in a dependency chain. Traversal says its model connects relationships and changes across service boundaries, helping investigators follow that chain. This is the vendor’s architectural description, not a test by BIG CHANGE.

## Funding and limits

In its [earlier launch announcement](https://www.traversal.com/blog/launch-announcement), Traversal disclosed $48 million in seed and Series A funding and named customers including DigitalOcean and Eventbrite. It claimed accuracy above 90% across hundreds of incidents, without publishing the underlying evaluation data there.

For engineering teams, assessing an incident tool means considering what production data to connect and checking its suggested causes before acting. Traversal describes read-only access as an option. Its account of the architecture and use does not establish performance in a prospective independent test.

Traversal says the [new funding](https://www.traversal.com/blog/traversal-series-b-120-million-ai-sre) will expand its system toward a longer-term goal: automatically detecting problems, identifying causes, taking corrective action and checking the results. That goal does not establish that autonomous remediation is safe or effective in every environment.
