# Deezer plans a search toggle for fully AI-generated music
> Deezer says listeners will be able to hide fully AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists from search, then restore them by switching the setting off. The global rollout is planned before the end of 2026.

Deezer [announced on October 13](https://newsroom-deezer.com/2026/10/deezer-ai-music-toggle/) that it will add a setting to filter fully AI-generated music from search results. When a listener turns it on, Deezer says detected tracks, albums and related artists will no longer appear in search. Turning it off will bring that content back. The company plans a global rollout before the end of 2026; its announcement does not say the setting is available yet or give a more exact launch date.
## The big change
- **What changed:** Deezer has announced an optional, reversible search filter for music it identifies as fully AI-generated. It has already kept detected AI-generated tracks out of its algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists.
- **Why it matters:** A listener looking for a particular song or artist will be able to choose whether Deezer's identified fully synthetic content appears in search. Creators of that content could lose search visibility for listeners who enable the setting. The size of that effect has not been measured.
- **What to watch:** Deezer's announcement gives no evaluation of the detector's accuracy for this toggle. The actual search experience and any missed or incorrectly filtered work will need to be assessed after release.
## Search becomes a listener choice
The new control changes a different part of the service from Deezer's existing policy. Deezer says it excluded more than 42 million detected AI-generated tracks from algorithmic and editorial recommendations between January 2025 and August 2026. That figure is the company's account of recommendation exclusions, not a count of tracks removed from its catalogue. The announced toggle extends filtering to search, where a listener may actively look for music rather than wait for a recommendation.
The scope is specific. Deezer says the toggle will exclude **fully AI-generated** tracks, albums and related artists from search results. Its detection currently focuses on content made entirely through generative AI platforms. Music with limited AI assistance within a wider human creative process is treated differently, according to the company's FAQ. Deezer has not described a way for listeners to adjust that boundary or given detailed steps for finding the setting once it arrives.
The ability to switch the filter off matters for both audiences. A listener who wants access to identified AI-generated music can restore its search results. For creators, the announcement describes a visibility control chosen by each listener; it does not announce a catalogue ban or a removal of their work from Deezer. It also gives no basis for predicting how many listeners will use the setting.
## Detection remains the limit
The toggle depends on Deezer's own identification system. The company says it has tagged more than 14 million albums and that its tool can detect music from several prolific generative platforms. Those are company claims about its detection programme, not an accuracy test for the forthcoming search filter. Deezer's announcement supplies no false-positive or missed-track rate for the new setting. BIG CHANGE has not tested it.
That uncertainty affects what a listener should expect: enabling the toggle will hide content Deezer has classified as fully AI-generated. It cannot yet be taken as a guarantee that every synthetic track will disappear, or that every affected work was classified correctly.
[BIG CHANGE's report on the Michael Smith streaming-fraud sentence](https://bigchange.ai/blog/michael-smith-ai-music-bot-streaming-fraud-sentence) covers a different question: automated plays used to collect royalties. Deezer's new setting concerns what listeners can find in search. A song's production method and whether its streams come from real listeners are separate issues.
