Agility Robotics has named Nyobolt as the battery technology supplier for its planned Digit 5 humanoid. The [October 15 announcement](https://www.agilityrobotics.com/content/agility-robotics-selects-nyobolt-as-its-ultra-fast-charging-battery-technology-partner-for-digit-5) puts a partner behind charging figures Agility first gave when it [unveiled Digit 5 in September](https://www.agilityrobotics.com/content/agility-unveils-digit-5-humanoid-robot-built-for-cooperatively-safe-work-at-scale): 90 minutes of runtime followed by a nine-minute recharge.
The companies say that is a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, compared with 2:1 for Digit 4, and could let Digit 5 work for more than 20 hours in a day. Digit 5 is still in development. Agility's [product page](https://www.agilityrobotics.com/solutions/digit-5) calls its specifications preliminary estimates based on internal tests of pre-production hardware and software.
## The big change
- **What changed:** Agility has identified Nyobolt as the supplier for Digit 5's fast-charging battery system. The 90-minute runtime and nine-minute recharge were announced with Digit 5 in September; the supplier was named on October 15.
- **Why it matters:** For warehouse and manufacturing operators, a shorter charging stop could leave more of a scheduled day available for robot tasks. The stated run-to-charge ratio is five times Digit 4's stated ratio. The release gives no measured Digit 5 shift output.
- **What to watch:** Agility expects early access to Nyobolt-equipped Digit 5 in the first half of 2027. Operating records from customer sites will be needed to establish charging performance and work completed over full shifts.
## The arithmetic behind the 20-hour claim
At the announced figures, one run-and-recharge cycle lasts 99 minutes: 90 minutes running and nine charging. Running occupies about 91% of that ideal cycle. Repeating such cycles without any other interruption would make about 21.8 hours of a 24-hour period available for running. That arithmetic supports the possibility of more than 20 hours. Travel to a charger, waiting for an open dock, maintenance and task-related pauses would reduce that time. The calculation also says nothing about how many items Digit handles while running.
The comparison with Digit 4 has a similar boundary. Agility reports its predecessor's run-to-charge ratio as 2:1, while Digit 5's planned ratio is 10:1. Those ratios describe how long each system runs relative to time spent charging. They do not establish a measured daily throughput comparison between generations.
## When the new system may reach operators
The [joint release on Nyobolt's site](https://nyobolt.com/resources/news/agility-robotics-selects-nyobolt-as-its-ultra-fast-charging-battery-technology-partner-for-digit-5/) says early access to Digit 5 with its battery technology is expected in the first half of 2027, followed by increasing availability over the next six to nine months for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operators. Agility's product page says Digit 5 and its listed capabilities remain subject to change. These documents give no Digit 5 battery capacity, charger power requirement, price or customer-site duty-cycle result for this configuration.
For operators evaluating a fleet, the useful evidence will be how often robots reach the dock, how long a charge takes in their facility and how much assigned work they complete between stops. The announcement specifies a battery partner and preliminary charging targets; it supplies no independent field evaluation of the Nyobolt-equipped Digit 5. BIG CHANGE reviewed the documents and calculated the ideal run-time share. We did not test the robot or battery.

Names Nyobolt and states the 90-minute run, nine-minute charge, 10:1 Digit 5 and 2:1 Digit 4 ratios, plus the proposed 2027 access schedule. Lists the planned 10:1 ratio and 20 hours per day, while stating that Digit 5 remains in development and specifications are preliminary estimates from internal testing and benchmarking of pre-production configurations. Some safety features are also still in development.
