Identity verification companies Fourthline and Veridas completed their merger on November 3, the companies say. Integration will proceed in phases.

## The big change

- The deal combines Fourthline’s compliance business with Veridas’s biometric and document technology.
- Both platforms, existing contracts and integrations continue; customers need take no action now, the companies say.
- Existing verification tools address manipulated or injected media, but the transaction itself does not establish improved detection.

[Fourthline says](https://www.fourthline.com/news/fourthline-and-veridas-complete-merger) the transaction includes up to €65 million in equity and debt financing. That is funding, not a stated purchase price. Fourthline CEO Paul Stoddart leads the Amsterdam-headquartered combined business.

Fourthline’s existing [Behavioural Trust Signals documentation](https://docs.fourthline.com/docs/behavioural-trust-signals) describes a machine-learning model that assesses device and interaction signals during identity verification. It looks for signs of manipulation or automated activity alongside document and selfie liveness checks. The company says this adds context about how media was captured or submitted, without adding a verification step. Its examples include motion sensors, device and network information.

In its [privacy statement](https://www.fourthline.com/privacy-statement/privacy-statement-en), Fourthline describes narrowly scoped models for tasks such as matching a selfie to an identity document or assessing whether video was recorded live. It says a trained analyst confirms identity-fraud determinations, while certain other verification outcomes may be automated. The statement describes the company’s policy; it is not an independent audit of practice.

The merger announcement provides no comparative test establishing improved detection, error rates or privacy after integration.
