An approved Gamma presentation is still a browser deck. If the recipient needs a PDF, PowerPoint file or Google Slides presentation, the handoff is complete only after someone opens and checks that destination artifact. This guide starts with a deck whose facts and card order have already been reviewed. For that earlier work and a browser View link, see [our Gamma deck guide](https://bigchange.ai/blog/gamma-checked-presentation-view-link-guide).
## The big change
- **What changed:** A checked Gamma deck becomes a separate PDF or PowerPoint file, or a Google Slides copy made through a PowerPoint upload.
- **Why it matters:** The target app can change fonts or visual effects, and a download alone does not establish editability or recipient access.
- **What to watch:** Export all intended cards, then inspect the file or Slides copy in the app the recipient will use.
## Decide what the recipient needs
Start with the approved Gamma deck, its last reviewed version or date, and the expected number and order of cards. Confirm the recipient's required format, whether they must edit anything, the delivery channel, and who may access the content. You need export permission in the Gamma workspace and a desktop browser. Have a PDF reader, PowerPoint app or authorized Google Drive account ready for the chosen route.
| Recipient needs | Export and destination | Acceptance check |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A fixed copy | PDF, opened in a PDF reader | All pages, approved content, readable layout, expected badge and file access |
| An editable PowerPoint deck | PPTX, opened in the intended PowerPoint app | All slides, layout, speaker notes if needed, and editability of required objects |
| An editable Google Slides deck | PPTX, uploaded to Drive and converted to a native Slides copy if required | Correct file identity, all slides, layout, required edits and recipient role |
PDF is static: Gamma says its export does not carry fillable forms or interactive elements. A PPTX opened for Office editing in Google Slides remains a PowerPoint file. If the recipient specifically requires a native Google Slides file, convert it and inspect the separate copy.
## Export and inspect the file
1. **Check the source in Present Mode.** Gamma says exports follow Present Mode, which can differ from Edit Mode. Compare the displayed cards with the approved version and note the expected count. If the deck has changed since approval, resolve that difference before exporting.
2. **Export every intended card.** In Gamma on desktop, choose **Share → Export** or the top-right three-dot menu → **Export**. Set the card dropdown to **All cards**; otherwise you may get only the current card. Choose **PDF** for a fixed copy or **PowerPoint (PPTX)** for PowerPoint and the Google Slides route. The optional image-quality control trades sharper images for a larger file. For PPTX tables that must stay editable, leave **Editable tables** on; Gamma says it is on by default. The export downloads when ready, and Gamma also sends an email copy to the account. Check that this extra copy is permitted for a confidential deck.
3. **Open the destination artifact.** For PDF, open the downloaded file in a PDF reader. For PowerPoint, open the PPTX in the app the recipient will use. For Google Slides, upload that PPTX in Drive with **New → File upload**. Open the uploaded file with Google Slides; Google can edit it while preserving its PowerPoint format. If the recipient requires a native Slides file, choose **File → Save as Google Slides** in the Slides editor, then open and identify the new copy. The uploaded PPTX and converted copy are separate files.
4. **Check the result in that app.** Match the page or slide count and sequence to the reviewed Gamma deck. Read the approved claims and source labels, inspect images and diagrams, and check text legibility, cropping and placement. In PPTX or Slides, test a copy of each kind of object the recipient needs to edit, especially tables. Gamma documents editable PPTX tables, but PowerPoint renders their rounded corners as sharp corners. Google says embedded PowerPoint charts and videos become images when edited in Slides, so check any required interactivity there. Check speaker notes if the recipient needs them. Inspect the actual PDF or PPTX for Gamma's badge: Free-workspace exports carry it; an active paid workspace removes it from future exports, including decks created earlier. An old export is not changed retroactively.
5. **Verify access and hand over the checked version.** For a local PDF or PPTX, use the approved delivery channel and confirm the named recipient can open the exact file. In Drive, check the target PPTX or native copy's sharing settings and parent folder permissions. Give the recipient the role they need, such as Viewer or Editor, and verify access with that recipient's account or an authorized access check. Record the source deck version, exported filename or Slides URL, count, required edits, badge state and any accepted differences. Repeat the inspection for each additional requested format; an edit to Gamma does not update an earlier export.
## Fix a failed check
If only one card appears, export again with **All cards**. For a PDF or PPTX export that fails in a mobile browser, Gamma recommends its desktop site. For a generic export error, check whether a download or emailed copy already exists, then check the connection, firewall or browser extensions and try again after a few minutes. If the error persists, contact Gamma support with the deck link and export format.
If content scales badly, compare Present Mode with the destination file. Gamma's **Zoom to fit** control affects fixed-format exports, but not PDF or PNG exports with fluid slides. Change the applicable setting and inspect a new export. Gradients, frosted effects and fonts can render differently. Gamma embeds fonts in PPTX, yet Google Slides ignores those embedded fonts and substitutes its own; inspect and adjust the Slides copy if needed. A PowerPoint or PDF deliverable may suit a strict layout requirement better. Neither route promises pixel-for-pixel fidelity. If Drive upload or conversion fails, check account policy, available storage and file size. Google sets a 100 MB limit for presentations converted to Google Slides.
Do not widen a Drive link to **Anyone with the link** to work around a failed recipient check. A shared parent folder can give broader access than an individual file setting. Correct the intended file's location or permissions and test again. Before uploading or emailing, confirm permission to distribute the deck's text, images and fonts through those services. Gamma's workspace plan, PowerPoint access, Google storage and organizational rules can affect the route; check current terms rather than assuming a fixed cost.
