Google's Gemini web app can make a longer AI music track, but selecting **Full** is only the start. If you need an original song with an intro, verses, a chorus and a bridge, you still have to hear the result, inspect the downloaded file and decide whether you have the rights to use it. This guide is for adult creators with an approved music brief. It follows Google's instructions checked on 24 October 2026; BIG CHANGE did not generate or listen to a track.
## The big change
- **What changed:** Google says Lyria 3.5 powers music creation in Gemini, where the Pro model offers a Full track of about two to three minutes.
- **Why it matters:** You can describe a whole song in one prompt and save an MP3, then judge the actual arrangement and recording yourself.
- **What to watch:** Full does not promise exactly three minutes or every requested section. Access, usage limits and rights still need checking.
## Before you start
You need a Google account eligible for Gemini music creation, must be at least 18, and must have **Keep Activity** on. Google's [Gemini music help](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/16901237?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en) allows a personal or supported work or school account. Check that **Pro** and **Create music** are available in your actual account, that your organization permits this use if applicable, and that you have enough remaining usage for an attempt. Feature access, regional eligibility and [limits](https://support.google.com/gemini/answer/16275805?hl=en) can change.
Prepare a brief you own or have permission to use: the song's purpose, genre, mood, instruments, vocal or instrumental choice, and the order of sections. If you supply lyrics, use your own approved words or words you are licensed to submit. If you want Gemini to draft lyrics, describe the theme without copying anyone else's lines. Do not upload an uncleared recording, image, voice or confidential brief. Decide in advance what duration and sound you would accept; **about two to three minutes** is Google's description of Full, not a guaranteed 180 seconds.
## Make the track
1. Go to [gemini.google.com](https://gemini.google.com/) on a computer and sign in with the permitted account. Check the account's plan and current limits. Switch the Gemini model selector to **Pro**; Google's full-track instructions require it. This is the Gemini selector, not a “Lyria 3 Pro” button.
2. Select **Upload & tools → Create music**. Choose **Full**, then choose vocals or instrumental and a genre that fit your brief. Google describes Full as approximately two to three minutes. Confirm those controls before submitting.
3. Fill in the scaffold below with your real brief. For a vocal song, insert only original or cleared lyrics beneath `Lyrics:`. For an instrumental, remove the lyrics line and request no vocals. Paste the finished prompt and submit **one** generation. Keep a private copy of the prompt and the selected controls so you can tell attempts apart.
```markdown
Compose an original full [genre] song, approximately 2–3 minutes, for [permitted purpose]. Use [instruments], [mood/energy] and [vocal description or “instrumental, no vocals”].
[Intro] Establish [original motif or sound].
[Verse 1] Develop [theme].
[Chorus] Make [hook or change in energy] distinct from the verse.
[Verse 2] Vary [theme or arrangement].
[Bridge] Contrast with [different rhythm, harmony or instrument].
[Chorus] Return to the main hook.
[Outro] Resolve the song without an abrupt cutoff.
Lyrics: [Insert your own approved, section-labelled lyrics here, or remove this line and ask for new original lyrics.]
```
Google's [Lyria 3.5 prompt guide](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/lyria-prompt-guide) documents section labels and timing directions for the model. Applying those directions to a Gemini app prompt is an editorial inference, not a tested app syntax or a guarantee that the audio will follow the map. The app's own help documents descriptive prompting, genre, vocals and Full selection. Avoid requests to imitate a named artist's voice or reproduce protected lyrics; Google's [developer manual](https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/music-generation) says safety filters can block them.
## Listen, download and decide
4. Play the generated track from beginning to end. Note its actual duration, where you hear the intro, verses, chorus, bridge and ending, and whether the vocal words are intelligible and match the approved text. Listen for clipped endings, distortion, unwanted resemblance and sections that never arrive. The labels in your prompt are instructions, not evidence that a section exists in the recording.
5. If it passes that first listen, use the track's **Download** control and choose **MP3** for audio only. Google also offers **MP4 with cover art** if that is the file you need. Open the exact saved file in a local player and replay it from start to finish. Confirm its filename, duration and audible sections against the attempt you accepted; a download entry alone does not prove you have a usable song.
6. Record a human **accept** or **hold** decision. The brief owner should approve the sound and lyrics, check for copied material or unauthorized voice resemblance, and review the intended outlet's AI music and disclosure rules before sharing. Google's terms say it does not claim ownership of original generated content, and its music help says generated tracks have a digital watermark. Neither point establishes exclusive rights, copyright protection, freedom from infringement or permission to distribute a particular track.
Keep a simple private acceptance record alongside the saved file:
```markdown
Account/plan and permission checked on:
Prompt/attempt ID and selected controls:
Saved MP3 or MP4 filename:
Actual duration and full local playback:
Audible intro / verses / chorus / bridge / outro:
Input rights and destination rules reviewed by:
```
If **Pro**, **Create music** or **Full** is missing, check the signed-in account, age, Keep Activity, region, organization settings and current quota before proceeding. If a prompt is blocked, remove material you cannot use or a prohibited imitation request; do not try to evade a filter. If a download looks missing or broken, inspect the existing player and local download first, then download again if the control is available. If the song is too short or misses its bridge, note the defect, adjust the brief and make **one new attempt** only if your allowance and budget permit. Google's current Lyria 3.5 documentation describes single-turn generation; it does not promise an in-place edit to an existing song. Review each new output and file separately. If none passes, leave the decision on hold.
## Cost and source limits
Check the price and available usage in **your Gemini account** before generating. Plan, country and work or school terms can differ, and Google says limits can change. Pricing for Lyria through the separate developer API is not the price of using Create music in Gemini. This article is based on documentation, not a signed-in account check, paid generation, audio test or commercial-rights clearance.
