HUMXN says it will pay for qualifying home repairs in Minneapolis, Chicago and Miami if a technician can record the work for AI and robotics training. The company [announced the program on October 6](https://humxn.io/humxn-launches-free-home-service-program). Its [current request page](https://humxn.io/free-home-service) lists plumbing, electrical, HVAC, air-duct cleaning and carpet cleaning, and says participating service companies are booking eligible jobs.

The offer is narrower than a free repair for anyone in those cities. HUMXN says a person reviews each request, the job must fit a normal service call or a day's work, and emergency work, large remodels, new construction and roofing are excluded. The site says it will tell a homeowner before proceeding if an unusually expensive part or work beyond the agreed scope changes the arrangement. BIG CHANGE has not verified a completed appointment or the number of companies taking part.

## The big change

- **What changed:** HUMXN's October 6 program offers to cover selected home-service bills in return for first-person recordings of skilled repair work. Its website is still taking requests in three cities.
- **Why it matters:** The service visit creates a potential training-data transaction among the household, the service company and HUMXN's prospective AI or robotics customers. Each party needs to understand the recording agreement as well as the repair scope.
- **What to watch:** Completed appointments, actual consent terms and evidence that licensed datasets improve a defined robotics task would establish more than the current offer and company description do.

## Who pays, and what the camera records

HUMXN describes a three-party arrangement: the qualifying homeowner pays nothing for the agreed visit or labor, HUMXN pays the local service company, and the company prepares recordings for AI and robotics organizations. It says technicians wear capture equipment during their normal work, documenting what they inspect, test and do with tools. The program collects demonstrations by people. It does not deploy a repair robot.

The [homeowner page](https://humxn.io/free-home-service) says nothing is scheduled or recorded until the resident agrees. HUMXN says the camera points at the technician's hands, tools and equipment; faces, names, mail, screens and other identifying details caught in frame are blurred or removed before sharing. It says a home's address is not shared with dataset users and approved organizations receive footage under licence for training and evaluation. These are the company's descriptions of its process. We have not independently audited recordings, redaction or buyer access.

The home-service announcement says the **service company** is paid for the job but does not specify a rate for the individual technician on that appointment. HUMXN also advertises a [separate skilled-trades capture program](https://humxn.io/ai-training-jobs-for-skilled-trades) at $20 per accepted hour of footage on top of ordinary job pay, with the first recorded hour paid after onboarding even if it fails review. Its page says customer or employer permission must be in writing. The home-service announcement does not say whether its visiting technicians also receive that recording rate.

## Public legal pages leave recording terms open

HUMXN's public [Terms of Service](https://humxn.io/legal/terms) and [Privacy Policy](https://humxn.io/legal/privacy) each carry a notice that they are templates to be completed by counsel. The terms say separate written member agreements govern services and take precedence over the website terms. Its public [dataset licence overview](https://humxn.io/legal/data-licensing-terms) likewise says a signed order and master agreement determine buyer rights, and it contains unresolved draft language about withdrawal and deletion. The website privacy policy describes form submissions and site use; it does not supply a completed, home-service-specific recording agreement.

The actual agreement is where a prospective participant can check the approved recording area, whether bystanders can appear, which uses of the footage are permitted, how long the raw and edited footage is retained, and what happens after consent is withdrawn. The public pages do not settle those terms.

HUMXN's [verification page](https://humxn.io/verification) describes provenance, consent records, screening and signed delivery receipts for datasets in general. The page labels its displayed example an illustrative record. Neither that description nor the repair-program announcement reports a buyer, a released home-service dataset, a robot trained on these appointments or measured success on a physical task. The documented change is an offer to source human demonstrations inside real homes. Its operational and robotics results remain unreported.
