Gemini Notebook can show a plan for a Slide Deck or Video Overview before it generates the finished artifact. A reader preparing one from a source notebook can use that pause to check the proposed topics, order and emphasis. Google announced the controls on 19 October 2026 and said they would roll out globally over the following week. This guide follows Google's published description; BIG CHANGE has not used the feature or checked an account's access.
The big change
With the new Review toggle, Gemini Notebook offers Review outline notes for slides or Review producer notes for video in the studio panel. The user can give feedback on the plan and select Proceed when it is ready. Someone who wants a quick first pass can skip review and generate from the studio panel. Google describes a creation flow based on the notebook's sources, but its announcement does not establish that every proposed point is correct or that every account already has the controls.
Before you start
This is for a Gemini Notebook user making a Slide Deck or Video Overview from a notebook with sources they are permitted to use. Decide who will receive the finished artifact and what it must cover. Keep the source material available for a human check. Do not put confidential or third-party material into a notebook unless you have permission and its use meets your organization's rules.
Google says the feature is rolling out to all Gemini Notebook users globally during the week after 19 October 2026. If the Review control is absent, the rollout may not have reached your account. The announcement does not specify a paid tier, a separate feature price, generation credits or detailed account prerequisites. Check the current product terms and your account before relying on a particular access or cost assumption.
Review the plan before generation
- In the notebook chat, ask Gemini Notebook to create slides or a video overview from your sources. Google says Notebook suggests topics first. Confirm the topics you want in the artifact. If you already know the content, put that direction in the prompt; Google says this can take you straight to the review flow.
- Turn on Review for the artifact. In the studio panel, select Review outline notes for a Slide Deck or Review producer notes for a Video Overview. These are plans for the output, before rendering, rather than finished slides or a finished video.
- Read the proposed plan against the notebook sources and your purpose. Check whether a required topic is missing, whether an unsupported point appears, and whether the order will make sense to the intended audience. This comparison is BIG CHANGE's editorial check, not an automated accuracy guarantee from Google.
- Give specific feedback where the plan needs a change. Google's examples include asking for an executive summary at the beginning or changing the order of a scene. Review the revised direction before approving it. The announcement does not document a fixed number of feedback rounds or a guaranteed way to correct every issue.
- Select Proceed when the plan covers the required points and its order and emphasis are suitable. Inspect the generated artifact separately before sharing it: confirm its factual claims and visuals against the sources and check that it fits the intended audience. Approval of the plan is a checkpoint, not verification of the final result.
The immediate success check is simple: the notes you are about to proceed from include the required topics in an acceptable order, with unsupported or sensitive material removed. The final Slide Deck or Video Overview then needs its own human review. Keep an unresolved point out of a shared artifact until you can verify it.
If Review is missing or the plan is wrong
If the toggle or notes action is missing, check that you are in a Gemini Notebook account and that you selected Slide Deck or Video Overview. The staged rollout may still be in progress. Google's documented quick route is to select the artifact in the studio panel and skip the Review toggle; use that route only if a first pass without a plan check suits the task, and inspect the result before sharing.
If the plan omits a topic or includes a claim the sources do not support, give narrower feedback and compare the resulting notes with the source again. If the concern remains, stop before Proceed, revise the notebook sources or task direction as appropriate, and make the editorial decision yourself. The source does not describe recovery controls for a failed render, a version history or a guarantee that feedback will be followed. No timing, output quality or error rate was measured for this guide.
