Pinterest's new Beauty Guides give U.S. iOS users a way to turn a hair or nail Pin into a guide they can save for a salon appointment or use at home. We treat it as a planning reference. BIG CHANGE has not tested the feature or checked whether its advice fits a particular person.
The big change
On October 6, 2026, Pinterest introduced a "Get the Guide" action for hair and nail Pins opened in Closeup. Tap it to view a guide that Pinterest says you can save for an appointment or use at home. The company says its visual technology identifies details in the image and a large language model turns them into guidance. Pinterest says the feature is currently available on iOS in the United States. It has not published evidence that the suggestions are accurate or suitable for an individual.
How to use a Beauty Guide
On Pinterest for iOS in the U.S., open a hair or nail Pin in Closeup. Tap Get the Guide to view the generated guide. Save it for an appointment or to refer to while trying the look at home. Pinterest's announcement does not specify a save button or where saved guides appear.
The announced route begins with a hair or nail Pin. Pinterest does not say that every Pin will show the control, and we have not checked eligibility in the app. For a salon conversation, bring the original Pin alongside the guide. That lets the stylist or nail artist see the chosen image and the terms Pinterest drew from it.
What goes into the guide, and what comes out
Pinterest says its visual understanding technology analyzes the Pin for features such as hairstyle and color, or nail shape and finish. It says that analysis is combined with a large language model. The announcement does not name the model or version, or explain the image-analysis method. It also does not describe a developer API.
The company says a Beauty Guide can include what to ask for at a salon, what to expect during an appointment, similar looks, relevant products and step-by-step instructions. BIG CHANGE has not observed or validated those outputs. An image alone may leave out details relevant to a product suggestion or procedure; that is an editorial caution, not a measured flaw in Beauty Guides. Pinterest's release offers no accuracy or safety evaluation, evidence of product efficacy, or validation for a person's hair or nails. Use the guide as a planning reference and discuss the proposed look with a professional where appropriate.
Access, price and rollout
Pinterest's launch announcement says Beauty Guides are available to iOS users in the U.S. as of October 6. It plans to reach more people and regions and to add product categories. A separate Pinterest Beauty Trend Report, published the same day, says broader availability is rolling out "over the coming weeks." Neither gives an exact country list or dates. The checked sources do not establish current Android or web access.
The checked Pinterest pages do not state a Beauty Guides price or separate fee. They do not provide a model name, an accuracy assessment or a measured salon outcome. BIG CHANGE has not tested the feature.
