How to use ChatGPT’s virtual try-on before buying clothes

ChatGPT can generate a clothing preview from a product listing and selfie, but the image does not guarantee fit or size. Learn the documented steps and what to check with the seller.

The big change

What changed: Since October 1, ChatGPT product listings for clothes and accessories can offer a generated try-on image based on a selfie. The reference photo is saved for later try-ons, with controls to change or delete it.

Why it matters: Shoppers can preview an item while discovering products in ChatGPT. The image can help visualize appearance, but OpenAI says it may not match the item or person and does not establish fit or size.

What to watch: OpenAI’s release notes and help page give mobile and web availability but do not specify plan or country eligibility, a price, usage limits or accuracy measurements. Check whether the feature appears in your account, then use the seller’s measurements, product details and return policy for purchase decisions.

Ten AI models gave sharply different answers in a gender bias audit

A new preprint tested ten AI models on stereotyped phrases and an artificial moral dilemma. Results differed by model and task, limiting broad fairness claims.

The big change

What changed: The ten-model audit found that gender asymmetry could appear in one task and disappear in another for the same model. GPT-5.5 and DeepSeek V4-Flash showed opposite mixes across the two tests.

Why it matters: Researchers and teams evaluating a model for a gender-sensitive task cannot carry a neutral result from a different task into their assessment. The prompt, model version and interface all define what was tested.

What to watch: Before relying on a fairness claim, check whether its evidence covers the intended task and setting, and whether it names the prompt, version and interface used.

Claude Code mods: create a context display and inspect its access

Claude Code mods can draw inside a session and change its behavior. This documentation-based guide explains how to request a context display and inspect its access.

The big change

What changed: Claude Code mods add functions that can alter events and draw inside the assistant's interface, packaged through its existing plugin system.

Why it matters: Developers can build a display or workflow control into their session, while giving that code access to their machine and conversation.

What to watch: Whether the mod's actual calls and behavior match its purpose, which organizational controls apply, and API changes between Claude Code versions.

Shopify Canvas: build and preview a theme before publishing

Create or duplicate a Shopify theme in Canvas, review it while unpublished and check early-access requirements, publishing controls and launch limits.

The big change

What changed: Shopify brought Sidekick’s theme-file editing into a visual workspace that lays out store templates together and renders the working theme as it changes.

Why it matters: A merchant can ask for a theme direction, then inspect the result across templates and screen widths before deciding whether to publish.

What to watch: Early access excludes third-party Theme Store themes, app blocks and embeds, Markets, translations and theme updates. Shopify has not published a Canvas-specific price or independent evidence for its “twenty minutes” store-building claim.

Signal65's Snapdragon X2 Elite comparison shows gains with limits

A Qualcomm-commissioned Signal65 report compares three retail 14-inch laptops. The Snapdragon system leads selected CPU and AI tests; the Intel laptop wins graphics and sustained Office runtime.

The big change

What changed: Signal65 has moved its X2 comparison into 14-inch retail laptops with the standard 18-core Elite chip. The report gives buyers results from complete shipping systems across plugged-in, unplugged and battery-life tests.

Why it matters: A laptop buyer can see different strengths within the same test set: the Snapdragon Lenovo leads selected CPU and AI workloads, while the Intel Dell is faster in the tested graphics workload and lasts longer in sustained Office use. The useful choice depends on the task and the complete machine.

What to watch: Equivalent tests in other laptops using these chips would show how much of each margin survives different cooling, power settings, displays and software builds. Signal65 tested one retail implementation per processor.

Microsoft’s MAI-Transcribe-2-Streaming: the live transcription path and its limits

Microsoft's new streaming transcription model returns provisional and final text as audio arrives. Its preview API also leaves turn detection and finalization to the client.

The big change

Microsoft has introduced a streaming model that returns provisional text as audio arrives, then confirms transcript segments. Its separate MAI-Transcribe-2 file transcription path serves recorded audio and documents a different set of options.

An app using the Realtime API must send correctly formatted audio, handle revisions to the provisional suffix and decide when to request a completed transcript. Those choices determine what users see and when downstream app logic can rely on final text.

The streaming model is a public preview without a service-level agreement. Microsoft does not recommend it for production workloads. Its quoted speed and accuracy are launch and benchmark claims, not measurements from this guide.

How to use Gemini Live Guided Vision to read a small label

Google's Guided Vision can describe what an Android camera sees. Follow the documented steps to enable it and ask about a small label, with its safety limits in view.

The big change

What changed: Google added a Guided Vision setting to Gemini Live and announced spoken descriptions and camera-framing cues for compatible Android devices on October 1.

Why it matters: A user can ask about a small label while sharing the camera and hear instructions to move the phone when the text is out of view. That is Google's documented workflow, not a result BIG CHANGE measured.

What to watch: The slow rollout means the setting may not appear yet. A spoken answer can be wrong, and Google excludes navigation, obstacle detection, medical use and mobility assistance. Check critical label text by another reliable method.

QSSR brings AI upscaling to standard PS5, game by game

Sony is adding QSSR to Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei on standard PS5. Access is game-specific, and sharper reconstruction does not establish faster frame delivery.

The big change

What changed: AI upscaling is reaching standard PS5 through individual game updates, extending a capability Sony previously associated with PS5 Pro.

Why it matters: Existing-console owners can benefit from new reconstruction software. Developers still have to fit that software into each game's rendering budget.

What to watch: Sony plans broader developer access. Adoption in additional titles, and the image quality and frame times of their particular modes, will determine how widely the benefit spreads.
